CHAPTER 1
MAY I HELP YOU?
As the final call for the flight to London rang out, Eva rushed
to the gate, her heart racing with excitement and a hint of
nervousness. She had never been on an international flight
before, and the thought of embarking on this solo journey to
pursue her MBA studies was both thrilling and intimidating.
After reporting to the gate, she made her way to her seat, her
eyes scanning the unfamiliar surroundings. As she approached her seat, she noticed a young man
sitting behind her, his broad shoulders and chiseled features
framed by a pink jacket with neatly polished buttons. His
innocent face and warm smile immediately put her at ease. Eva
tried to stow her handbag in the overhead bin, but her short
height made it a challenge. Just as she was struggling, the
young man asked, "May I help you?"
Eva smiled gratefully as he took her handbag and placed
it in the bin. "Thank you," she said.
The young man smiled back, his eyes crinkling at the
corners. “You're welcome. Is this your first flight?"
Eva nodded, feeling a bit self-conscious about her obvious
nervousness. Jack's expression turned sympathetic. "I can tell
you're feeling a bit tense. Just look out the window, and you'll
see the beautiful scenery. It'll help calm your nerves. Enjoy
your trip."
Eva felt a wave of relief wash over her as she gazed out
the window, taking in the breathtaking view of the clouds and
the landscape below. "Thank you, Jack. Your words really
helped. I feel much better now."As they chatted, Eva learned that Jack was an accountant
who had been working in London for two years. He was on his
way back to London after a leave, and coincidentally, he lived
in Camden, the same area where Eva's university was located.
Eva's eyes widened in surprise.
"Nice to meet you," he said. "I'm sure we'll run into each
other again in Camden. If you need any help or just want to
grab a coffee, don't hesitate to reach out."
Just then, the flight attendant's voice came over the
intercom, welcoming passengers aboard and beginning the pre
flight announcements. As the plane taxied down the runway, Eva
felt a sense of excitement and possibility, grateful for the chance
encounter with Jack, who had already made her feel more at ease
in this unfamiliar city. Little did she know, this was just the
beginning of an adventure that would change her life forever.
CHAPTER 2
MEETING YOU WAS A FATE
After three delightful hours had passed, an airhostess
came with food. Eva was asleep, so Jack bought food for both
of them and placed it on the seat. He waited a moment for Eva
to awaken from her peaceful slumber. After some time, Eva
woke up. Jack said, "Did you wake up? I bought your food
because you were sleeping." Eva replied, "Thank you, I fell
asleep."As they prepared to land, Jack asked, "I forgot to ask
your name. May I know your name?" Eva said, "Yes, I'm Eva."
After an 8-hour journey through the skies and navigating the
maze of airport formalities, they emerged from the bustling
terminals.
Eva asked Jack, "Hey Jack, could you give me your
contact details? In case I need, may I reach out to you?" Jack
shared his contact number with her. Just then, Lilly , Eva's
cousin, arrived and hugged her. Lilly is an entrepreneur and
runs a boutique in London.
As they chatted, Jack wished to say goodbye to Eva and
talk to Lilly , but Eva was engaged in conversation with Lilly ,
so Jack moved towards his friend's direction. Eva, wanting to
introduce Lilly to Jack, followed him. However, they couldn't
find Jack. In a delightful twist of fate, Eva's gaze shifted back
to remembering Jack, and she promptly turned to introduce
Lilly to him. Alas, Jack had vanished amidst the lively crowd.
A sense of melancholy washed over Eva, for she longed
to exchange goodbyes with Jack and inquire about his
whereabouts. Lilly asked, "Hey Eva, what occupies your
thoughts at this moment? Are my words reaching you? Shall we whisk away in a taxi?" Eva regained her composure and
replied, "Apologies, dear Lilly . Let's go."
Lilly and Eva got into a taxi and arrived at apartment
number 14 in Camden City. The room was on the 3rd floor.
Lilly said, "This is your room. When I was studying here, it
used to be my room. You know, after a few days, I'll be seeing
you here along with me. But tomorrow, I'll have to leave you
and head to university. I really want to stay with you, but my
boutique is too far from here, so I can't stay here. Whatever
your wish is, just call me."
Eva thanked Lilly and said, "Thanks, my sweetie. I know
you're busy. It's okay if the boutique is far away. I'm glad
you're here today." Lilly reminded Eva about the part-time
job and said, "There's a vacancy for an accountant trainee at a
nearby LN1 software company. You will be interviewed
tomorrow at 10:00 AM. You still have about 15 more days to
start your classes, so there shouldn't be any hassle about
attending the interview. If it's OK, I'll show you your
university first, and I'll drop you off at that software
company."
Eva agreed, and they made plans for the next day. After
a while, they sat down to eat, and Lilly asked, "How's thefood?" Eva replied, "It's good. How's your work going?" Lilly
said, "It's going well. I have 4 assistants in the shop." Eva
asked about Lilly 's marriage plans, and Lilly shared that she
wasn't interested in marriage right now.
The next day, Lilly dropped Eva off at the LN1 company,
and Eva went in for her interview. As she waited, she felt as if
she had caught a glimpse of Jack, but she wasn't sure. The
interviewer, a lady, called her in and said, "Ms. Eva Mariya."
After the interview, the lady said, "Tomorrow at 10:00 am,
you can start your work. On the days you have classes, you
should start work by 2:00 pm. You'll be working here as Mr.
Jack's trainee accountant. We'll introduce you to Jack
tomorrow. For now, you can leave. All the Best."
Eva left the office, wondering if she had really seen Jack.
She called a taxi and headed back to her room, lost in thought.
As she reached her room, she took a nap, her mind still
pondering the question: Was it really Jack she had seen?
