DIARY - 4

On the S t a g e o f O n e S i d e d Hearts…

Life always brings unexpected turns. No one can predict what’s coming next. If we could know everything in advance, what fun would life hold?

After the Competition Announcement

Ronny (smiling): “Where did you disappear to? At least give me an answer.”

Aarvi thinks: “What should I do? Maybe this is the perfect chance to see if Ansh has feelings for me… What if I say yes to Ronny?”

Jay (waving): “Aarvi where have you been again?”

Aarvi (snapping out of her thoughts): “Nothing… Yes, Ronny. I’ll dance with you.”

Silence falls. Everyone stares as if something huge just happened.

Ronny (grinning): “Alright then!”

Aarvi shifts uncomfortably under their gazes.

Aarvi: “What’s wrong? Why is everyone staring?”

Jay (softly): “You… you’re dancing with Ronny?”

Aarvi (shrugging): “Yes. So?”

Jay (awkward smile): “Nothing…”

Suddenly, Pooja steps forward.

Pooja (innocently): “Ansh, will you be my partner for the dance competition?”

Aarvi thinks: “No worries Ansh will refuse.”

Ansh (calmly, after a moment): “Y e s.”

Shock ripples through the group Aarvi says yes to Ronny, and Ansh says yes to Pooja!

Aarvi thinks: “What have I done?!”

She leaves without another word, spending the night lost in thoughts.

N e x t Morning at C o l l e g e

Aarvi arrives, but her mind still races.

Aarvi thinks: “I agreed to dance with Ronny… and now Pooja is with Ansh. Something’s off.”

Ronny: “Aarvi!”

Aarvi: “Yes? What’s up?”

Ronny (excited): “When should we start practice?”

Aarvi (tired): “Let’s talk after class.”

Ronny (casual): “Okay, see you.”

In class, Rohit teases her:

Rohit: “Why so quiet today?”

Aarvi (sighing): “It’s nothing.”

She walks away. Jay watches, puzzled.

Jay thinks: “Ronny’s plan makes sense, but Pooja asking Ansh… that’s strange.”

Scene 3: Parallel Rehearsals

On one side, Ronny and Aarvi rehearse.
On the other, Ansh and Pooja practice.

Ronny: “We make a great pair, don’t we?”

Aarvi (quietly): “I… guess so.”

Ronny: “We’ll win for sure.”

Aarvi thinks: “I’m not so sure…”

“Like the moon hiding its sorrow behind clouds,
I hide the struggle of my unspoken love.
Even if my face shines with a smile,
what if my eyes betray me with tears?”

Scene 4: Registration Day

It’s time to finalize partners.

Aarvi (waiting for Ronny): “Where were you? We need to register!”

Ronny: “I’m sorry…I can’t participate.”

Aarvi: “What? Why now, on the last day?”

Ronny: “Pooja’s cousin’s wedding I have to attend.”

Aarvi: “And you tell me this now?”

Ronny (apologetic): “I’m really sorry.”

He walks away. Aarvi storms over to Jay.

Jay: “What’s wrong?”

Aarvi: “Ronny backed out. Now what?”

Jay: “Ansh!”

Aarvi turns as Ansh approaches.

Jay: “Did you register?”

Ansh: “Pooja can’t same wedding.”

Jay (hopeful): “Then we still have a chance.”

Aarvi (angry): “I won’t let this end here.”

Jay thinks: “We need a new plan…”

Aarvi: “Ansh, you don’t care about any of this, do you?”

Ansh remains silent.

Jay: “Aarvi, do one thing…”

Aarvi: “What?”

"We never realised how we are frozen until someone starts melting over ice."

We walk through life carrying invisible winters inside us. Smiles on the outside, yet somewhere deep within, something remains untouched cold, still, and silent. It doesn’t hurt, not visibly. But neither does it feel fully alive. We confuse numbness with strength, silence with peace, and distance with protection. Until someone walks in not with grand gestures or loud declarations but simply with warmth.

N e x t P a r t : Will Aarvi and Ansh join forces? Or will another surprise twist steal the spotlight?
