Who is God? What is God? Or who is God? This question haunted me like many other doubts in my life. I tried to find answers through various means, visited many places, and asked many people, but everyone had a different opinion and faith.
One day, while searching for answers, I entered a building described as a Muslim mosque. A man with a cap on his head, wearing a white shirt and lungi, welcomed me with a smile. The place was serene and peaceful. I asked him about his God, who and where He was. He smiled and replied, "Your God is one and invisible." He told me that if I prayed five times a day and raised my hands in prayer, He would answer me.
Then, I visited a temple filled with beautiful carvings and paintings. Like the mosque, this place was also serene and peaceful. A priest with a sacred thread and a serene smile welcomed me. I asked him about his God, and he pointed to a deity in the temple, saying, "He is our God, and there are 33 crore gods." He told me to pray to the deity of my choice.
Next, I visited a church, where I saw a serene and peaceful atmosphere. A priest in white robes welcomed me and showed me a statue of Jesus Christ. He told me to kneel and pray to Jesus, and He would listen.
However, I saw people praying and lighting candles in front of the statue, but I didn't see any signs of life or movement. I thought to myself, "Is this really God?"
As I walked out of the church, I saw a group of people fighting and arguing with each other. I was shocked to see that some of them were the same people I had seen praying in the mosque, temple, and church. I realized that they were fighting over their faith and religion.
I wondered which God would come to their rescue, and which God would protect them. Perhaps their God had blinded them to their own cruelty.
I continued walking, feeling disappointed and disillusioned. Suddenly, the earth shook, and buildings and mountains crumbled. But then, I saw something that gave me hope.
People from different faiths and backgrounds came together to help each other, risking their own lives to save others. They were no longer fighting or arguing, but instead, they were working together in harmony.
In that moment, I realized that God is not a distant deity, but a human being who lives among us. God is the person who helps and supports others, who shows compassion and kindness.
Perhaps, we have all been God's to someone at some point in our lives. And perhaps, we can all be God's to each other if we choose to show love, respect, and kindness.
The world may be complex, but it's also beautiful and full of possibilities. We can choose to make it a better place, one small act of kindness at a time.
