Once upon a time, in the small but lively village of Pipli, lived a mischievous boy named Chintu. Chintu was famous for two things—his never-ending love for mangoes and his genius (or disastrous) ideas that always got him into trouble.
That summer, the biggest mango tree in the village stood tall in Kallu Kaka’s garden, filled with golden, juicy mangoes. But there was one big problem—Kallu Kaka guarded his mangoes like a dragon hoarding treasure. He had built a high fence around the tree, kept a loud and nosy parrot named Gullu as a watchman, and even slept outside with a big stick in his hand.
Chintu and his three best friends—Motu, Pappu, and Golu—stared at the mango tree from a distance. Their mouths watered. Their hearts longed for those delicious mangoes.
“We need a plan,” Chintu declared.
The Master Plan
After an hour of serious discussion, Chintu laid out their genius heist plan:
1. Step 1 – Chintu would dress as a ghost to scare Kallu Kaka away.
2. Step 2 – While Kallu Kaka was distracted, Pappu and Motu would sneak into the garden.
3. Step 3 – They would pluck as many mangoes as possible.
4. Step 4 – Golu, the fastest runner, would keep watch and alert them if anything went wrong.
The plan seemed foolproof—at least in their mischievous minds.
The Execution
That night, at exactly midnight, the boys put their plan into action.
Chintu wrapped himself in a white bedsheet and stood outside Kallu Kaka’s house. In his spookiest voice, he moaned, "Ooooo... I am the ghost of stolen mangoes! Return my mangoes, or I will take you away!"
Kallu Kaka, instead of running away, grabbed his big stick and shouted, "Ah-ha! I have been waiting for you, ghost! Time to settle this once and for all!"
Before Chintu could react, Kallu Kaka charged at him, swinging his stick wildly. WHACK! The stick hit Chintu’s bedsheet, sending him flying. He tripped over a sleeping cow and landed straight into a pile of mud. SPLAT!
Meanwhile, Pappu and Motu had successfully climbed over the fence. They reached for the mangoes, but just as they plucked the first one, Gullu the Parrot screeched at the top of its lungs, "Chor! Chor! Thief! Thief!"
Kallu Kaka turned around and saw them. His eyes widened in rage.
"You little rascals!" he yelled and sprinted toward them.
Pappu panicked and grabbed Motu’s arm. “Run, Motu, run!”
But instead of running toward the exit, they accidentally ran straight into the village pond. SPLASH!
On the other side, Golu was laughing so hard at his friends’ bad luck that he forgot to keep watch. By the time he realized what was happening, Kallu Kaka had already grabbed his ear.
The noise woke up the entire village. Soon, a huge crowd gathered. And there stood Chintu, covered in mud; Pappu and Motu, dripping wet; and Golu, getting his ear twisted by Kallu Kaka.
The villagers burst into laughter.
Kallu Kaka shook his head and said, “If you wanted mangoes, you could have just asked!”
From that day on, Kallu Kaka decided to host a "Mango Feast" every summer, where all the kids could eat as many mangoes as they wanted—without stealing!
