Trump-Modi Call: US-India Diplomatic Breakthrough

US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a “productive” phone call and discussed multiple critical bilateral issues related to US-India relations. Since Trump was sworn in for his second term on January 20, this was the first telephonic conversation with Modi ji, or it could be said that this was the first conversation between the two leaders, as both Trump and Modi ji are political leaders. During their discussion, they mainly focused on various matters, including technology, bilateral trade, investment, energy, defence, and security concerns, including the Indo-Pacific region, the Middle East, and Europe. Modi ji specifically mentioned their conversation as a commitment to a “mutually beneficial and trusted partnership,” along with that both the leaders agreed to remain in touch and to meet soon.

The discussion on the telephonic call between two leaders was on immigration, and it centred on the 725,000 Indian nationals in the United States. India has already showed its disagreement regarding illegal immigration and willingness to take back Indian immigrants, with current bilateral discussions focused on nearly 18,000 cases. When asked about Modi's opinion, then Trump said Modi “will do what is right “ in terms of illegal immigrants. The Indian foreign minister announces that Indians overstaying would be accepted by New Delhi “anywhere in the world depending upon verified documents and confirmed nationality.

Trump revealed that Modi's visit to the White House in February is being scheduled. He highlighted their ‘good relationship’; even Modi also referred to Trump as a ‘good friend’ and also expressed main focus and commitment towards a “mutually beneficial partnership.” Focusing on working on global peace, security, and prosperity. Both the leaders also emphasised their dedication towards the Quad partnership; along with that, India is set to host Quad leaders this year.On Monday, a call between Trump and Modi “emphasised that the procurement of America-made security equipment by India is moving towards a bilateral trade relationship.” A White House statement said.

The White House is the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States, serving as both a residence and a metonym for the Executive Office of the President. Located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C., it has been the presidential residence since John Adams in 1800.
Designed by Irish-born architect James Hoban in the Neoclassical style, the building was modeled after Leinster House in Dublin. Constructed between 1792 and 1800, its exterior walls are Aquia Creek sandstone painted white. Thomas Jefferson later added low colonnades on each wing to conceal stables and storage.

The White House Office is organized according to each president's individual wishes, with the president enjoying significant discretion in structuring the office throughout their administration. The individual offices have continuously grown in size and number, shifting as each president identifies their specific needs and priorities.

The Executive Office of the President (EOP) was created in 1939 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to provide presidential support, with responsibilities ranging from communicating the president's message to promoting trade interests. Presidents can restructure the office as needed, even creating new offices. For instance, President George W. Bush established the USA Freedom Corps and the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives to promote volunteerism and support community organizations.
