You, Me and Desert - 11

The news came to the academy like a cut kite falling from the sky into the field. Every boy rushed to grab this kite with excitement, but just like a cut kite ends up in the hands of only one of the running boys, this envelope of news was also received only by those whose names were written on it.

There was a stir all around. Kabir and Rohan's passports had been prepared. The visa process was also beginning.

They couldn’t even pronounce the names correctly. They repeatedly mispronounced them, but someone always corrected them.

So, they were going to Venezuela to participate in an international competition. Neither of the boys had ever heard of this country, nor did anyone know where it was.

Their instructor only told them that it was on the other side of the world and that they would have to cross seven seas to get there.

The boys couldn’t believe it. It felt like talking about another realm. So far away???

Tears of joy welled up in Kabir and Rohan's eyes. The fact that both were selected together gave them each other's support. Just the thought of being together was enough to boost their morale. They were also told that there would be other foreign participants with them. After all, strangers quickly become friends during a journey.

Day by day, their preparations intensified. But the nature of their preparations had changed. Now, their focus was not limited to sightseeing or visiting a foreign country; instead, they became vigilant about their performance.

They knew this was their first opportunity that had come to them by chance, but the doors for the future would open only if they could prove themselves with their full potential.

Their challenges grew even more.

Soon, the day for training arrived. They felt somewhat reassured since the stadium where they would be training was one they had seen before.

Packing their bags, both of them were ready from the morning. They didn’t forget to worship the picture of Rajmata in the morning. They were supposed to leave only after lunch. A jeep was arranged to take them twelve kilometers to a bus stand in a nearby town. From there, they were to take a bus further.

After breakfast, when they returned to their room, the boys surrounded them. Everyone began giving them advice and instructions in their own way. They received countless good wishes as well.

While they were encircled by the boys, suddenly, another miracle happened.

A motorcycle sped in and stopped in the lawn. Two people were riding on it, but their faces were unrecognizable due to the helmets they were wearing.

Curiously, the boys moved closer to see.

However, as they approached, the sight that unfolded was something no one could believe. Everyone turned and raced back in the opposite direction.
It was a moment worth enjoying for every one because of the upcoming events. Every one was involved in the situation as an active member though only one or two would get the chance to really participate in. There was an atmosphere of deep involvement for the boys gathering there.
