Marlin
It’s more than a month that we are separated and life goes the way it wishes. I am making so much money in car business but feeling lonely nowadays. I always miss my only love Samantha, she is beautiful, funny and she loves me the way I am. Till now, I have not found anyone like her. I believe that God created her only for me. My friends are always with me whenever I feel low, but sometimes we need to move away from them also. Pain of separation from Samantha’s is still in my heart and now I miss Aaron too. Why he left early because death doesn’t consider people age. His parents, brother and us. We all are in great shock that Aaron left us forever. But why did he go alone? Why didn’t he call me? I would have accompanied her. Police is still investigating his murder mystery. And I hope one day we will find his killer. He was my best buddy and I really want the real criminal to be behind the bars. Suddenly my phone rings and I see the Grace number on screen. Hello! how are you? I am not fine! Me too, today we have planned out to meet in Super King Café. Then and again my phone pings I see Gloria’s message she shared Aaron’s and her photos with. I miss him. I send the message and she replies, me too! He was sweetheart.
In the evening, we all get together except Hannah and her parents because they are preparing for an engagement ceremony which will take place next week. What has happened to us? We don’t have time for each other Joey complains. Look, who is saying, I made a plan otherwise you people always had an excuse, Grace made a face. Miss Grace you are always busy with your rich man. Oh! please don’t remember me of him, he was a fucking asshole. That day, when you brought him, it seemed you are going to marry him. I felt the same but he was also like others. She makes a weird face while discussing about him. Guys, Aaron doesn’t deserve this, he had lot of dreams to fulfil. There was so much he wanted to do in life. Grace’s eyes full of tears and Joey also gets emotional. That’s true! God was unfair to him. But the question is who did this to him? He doesn’t have any enemy and he was only surrounded by friends. His mother told me that the day he was murdered he went to meet Nora and he came back dead. I answer Grace. But why? I mean did Nora call him to meet or he himself arranged a meeting? Joey questions eagerly. God knows but we need to talk to her. Maybe she knows anything about Aaron’s killers. Guys, she didn’t even attend the funeral because she is deeply hurt that’s why she cut all the links. I don’t think so she knows anything about Aaron. Grace clears her throat.
Anyways, I think we should call her, maybe she is having a clue about what happened that night. I end my conversation and all agree with it. Suddenly, I get a call from a client to meet him in his office so I say goodbye and leaves for the meeting. On the way, my car got stuck in the traffic and my cell phone rings and there was a message from an unknown number.
Hi, Marlin this side Nora, I want to talk to you.
Nora! Have you changed your number? I tried calling you week back but it seems you blocked my number.
Yes, I was very upset and angry. Can you meet me under the bridge by 9pm in the evening?
The bridge which is near that famous statue.
Yes, see you then.
Marlin wanted to talk to her more but as traffic light turns he drives away and Nora shows offline.
In the evening I reach the bridge and while waiting for her decide to call Joey and Grace but the moment I dialled Joey’s number. I notice Mr. Davis watching me from the other side of the bridge constantly. His eyes look revengeful and thirsty for something. He is Nora’s neighbour. Yes, I recognize him, but why is he here? My legs shake and I decide to walk away and as I begin; I noticed somebody following me. I walk fast and stopped for a minute and turn back to see that was is Mr. Davis who following me. As I turn round, someone stabbed me. I in shock, my mouth draws open and I knew that I am going to fall and then again, I was stabbed again three times with a long knife and finally I fell on the ground and unable to move. While taking my last breath, I see the face of stabber and hand with a knife, I regret that why I did not call Joey and Grace and talked about my meeting with Nora.
Marlin eyes closed and he was lying dead on the floor. After few hours police van came and the people gathered around to see what’s going on. Mr Davis also stand in the crowd and see Marlin dead on the road. Then, he puts his hand in jacket and starts moving away from the scene. Two friends of Nora lost their life, he murmurs and walks away slowly.
In Marlin’s funeral, all his friends and relatives come except Gloria and Nora. Gloria feels sorry as she is in Greece with her husband and nobody informed Nora because Hannah did not want to talk to her. Grace and Joey’s number she has marked in black list. Marlin parents, his sister and friends could not believe that Marlin was not with them anymore. His mother cries badly and says my boy was living a tough life. First, he was in depression and now he is killed by someone. What was his fault? People hold her and try to console her. Grace, Hannah and Joey all broke down in tears.
