THE MUSING OF A RATTELING BRAIN BY NAVIKA KOHLI
THE WELL
As Hanna and her family got of the cab. The twinkle in her nostalgic eyes was gloomed by a mixture of red, blue and yellow. As her lush’s chocolate hair floated with the wind they shone dimly in the moonlight and the lights coming from the airport in front of her. As the stars winked for her happiness, they glowed radiantly like a thousand sparks blazing together. She glimpsed at the concrete jungle and the skyscrapers protecting London. She turned and opened the doors of the airport so her and her family could go inside. Her heart was a boat on the verge of sinking. She didn’t want to leave but her dad had gotten a transfer so she had to. It was almost as if she inhaled her own tears from her big brown eyes while entering the airport. Regardless of the mouldy swamp of feelings she had Hanna knew there was no other choice but to leave. As she sat and looked over her shoulder it was only to see that it had started to snow. So, she walked over and sat by the glass window to enjoy the snowfall. The snow choreographed a ballet peace conducted by the gentle wind to welcome all its viewers who had their eyes as a ticket to the show. While her mind and soul were dedicated towards why she was leaving? There was something else she noticed a five pence coin on the floor. Yet this coin was not like any other it had almost faded to turn into an ochre colour she Tried to conjecture it or in simpler words judge on the basis of its incomplete information. Until it was time for her to board her plane. The tears which were inhaled earlier one by one were released as Her heart sunk into the water waiting to rise again from the thick waves of the ocean.
Definitely confused, She walked through the tight yet echoey corridor which lead to the plane. As she sat in her seat and buckled up, she went on to read the magazine in the threaded pocket Infront of her. As she read it she could see that the latest story was about a fish specifically known as Merwaldian fish who was extremely rare and lived in the small well of a church. He had one day inexplicably disappeared. Having no time to properly wonder about the story Hanna asked her dad to visit the church and the well which was in it. She was surprised as he graciously agreed which was out of character for him. As her imagination told her to, she wondered about the fish. She envisioned with wide endlessly impatient eyes. They sparkled with a Safire blue. Just as the damn Merwaldian fish did in her world when god pulled it out of the foggy water and straight to hell. Lost in her thoughts Hanna virtualized the fish being a golden honey colour who was unfrequently seen. Hanna somehow felt connected to the story. Instantaneously, she noticed a boy who was reading the magazine as curiously she was reading it only, he seemed familiar. As she steadily flipped through the pages the noticed one very peculiar page. On it was the boy who was reading the magazine it turned out that he was called Erin and He was the one who was apparently accused of being the fish’s killer. To be continued….
Enjoy the story!!!!
