I open the door and step out of the rusty old van to be hit by a sticky hot humid air. I take a deep breath. I smell the salty sea water as we gather the stuff from our car. The hot burning sand hits my feet as I walk to our spot on the beach. High above the water is a bright yellow sun, with its hot rays beating down on everyone on the beach. Tall brown coconut trees are lined up on the sides of the beach. Big hard grey rocks stand against the current of the ocean, standing as a barrier.
I take out my sand toys and start making a sandcastle. I feel surprisingly calm and relaxed. I grab my old blue broken bucket and walk to the water, the hot sand hitting the bottom of my feet once again. I dip my bucket into the cool water. The water brushes my hand, and I feel a shiver down my spine, soon taken away by the sun’s rays. I walk back with the heavy bucket in my hands. My mom gives me a bottle of sunscreen, so I squirt some out. I feel the gooey sunscreen between my hands and fingers as I spread it on my legs and hands. I finish making the sandcastle. It looks amazing and reminds me of Rapunzel's tower from Tangled. Suddenly, my sister grabs my bucket and heads down to the shore. I chase after her, and I run right into the water.
We splash each other with water. The salty water then gets in my eyes, and I start to panic. I feel scared and lost. I can’t see, then slowly but eventually, my vision clears. All of a sudden, a big fluffy cloud covers the scorching sun, and I turn cold. I run out of the water and dive into the hot sand, and I instantly heat up. I feel tired and exhausted. When I get up, the hot sand sticks to me like sticky super glue, and it doesn’t come off.
After some time, the sun starts to set. The now orangish-red sun touches the surface of the water. The sky is a mix of pink, orange, purple, and blue. The sand looks golden brown, and it's not burning anymore. The sand on me has dried and is starting to fall off of me. My skin is orangish-red like a lobster. Touching my skin hurts. The wind is now a breeze and it’s cool and soothing. The water is cold, so no-one is in it. Me and my sister start a game of volleyball, and my parents watch. I feel energetic and lively. Soon, the sun has set, and the bright white stars are twinkling in the sky. Suddenly, we hear a big crack. The fireworks have started! I am so excited as my family and I sit on our soft comfy beach towel to watch the fireworks go up. Purple! Blue! Orange! Green! The colors repeat over and over again, and I start to feel drowsy, and slowly, my eyes close. I open my eyes again to find myself in the rusty old van, on our way back to the hotel. I feel peaceful and at ease. That was a day I will never forget. One of the best days of my life.
