અંધારી રાત છે, આકાશમાં વીજળીના કડાકા અને પ્રકાશના કિરણો વિખરાઈ રહ્યા છે, ઝીણી ઝીણી મેઘલી રાતે આકાશમાંથી અમૃત વર્ષા થઈ રહી છે. બરાબર અષાઢી વાદળો વરસી રહ્યા છે. રેલવે સ્ટેશન પર યાત્રીઓ રેલ આવવાની રાહ જોઈ રહ્યા છે, થોડીવાર પછી રેલ નો અવાજ સંભળાય છે અને બધા યાત્રીઓ ઉભા થઈ જાય છે રેલ ઉભી રહેતા બધા યાત્રીઓ ધક્કામુક્કી કરી ચડવા લાગે છે. સ્ટેશન પર થોડીવાર રેલ ઉભી રહે છે બધા યાત્રીઓ ગોઠવાઈ ગયા છે. એન્જિનથી ત્રીજા ડબ્બામાં એક આધેડ દંપતી ચડે છે, બારીની પાસે બંને બેસી જાય છે. પુરુષની આંખો લાલ થઈ ગઈ છે, તેની
