વાલાસણ ગામના ચોરે આવેલા ઘેઘુર વડલા નીચે એક નાનકડી દેરી છે. દેરી પર કોઇ ધજા-પતાકા નથી, કે નથી કોઇ ભગવાનની મૂર્તિ, પરંતુ કમરેથી વળી ગયેલા લાકડીને ટેકે ઊભેલા એક વૃદ્ધાનો ઝાંખો બ્લેક એન્ડ વ્હાઇટ ફોટો છે. નાનકડા રૂમ જેવડી આ દેરીની અંદર બે-એક કબાટો છે જેમાં બાળવાર્તાનાં પુસ્તકો વ્યવસ્થિત ગોઠવાયેલાં છે. આ છે મણીમાની યાદમાં બનેલું વાર્તા મંદિર. દર અઠવાડિયે રવિવારે અંધારું થયા પછી ગામના થોડા યુવાનો એકઠા થાય છે ગામનાં ટોળાબંધ બાળકોને દેશ વિદેશની બાળ-વાર્તાઓની ચોપડીઓમાંથી અવનવી બાળવાર્તાઓ વાંચી સંભળાવાય છે. તો કોઇ વાર કોઇ ઉત્સાહી અને નટખટ યુવાન પોતે જાતે ઘડી કાઢેલી વાર્તા પણ સંભળાવે છે. મણીમાની પુણ્યતિથિએ
