चलो बेटा जल्दी उठो हमें हॉस्पिटल जाना होगा।", पांच साल के माहिर को उसकी मम्मी ने उठाते हुए कहा। "क्या हुआ मम्मी?", माहिर आंखें मींचते हुए बोला। " बेटा पापा का फोन आया था, वो कह रहे थे कि दादी अभी तुमसे मिलना चाहती है", माहिर की दादी जो अपने उम्र के आखिरी पड़ाव पर थी, इस वक्त हॉस्पिटल में थी। उन्हें शायद पता लग गया था कि वो अब जाने वाली हैं इसलिए वो अपने पोते से आखिरी बार मिलना चाहती थी। थोड़ी ही देर में माहिर और उसकी मां दोनों उसकी दादी के पास‌ थे। उसकी दादी बुढ़ापे के कारण कमजोर हो चुकी थी और डबडबाई आंखों से अपने पोते को देख रही थी। उसने इशारों से माहिर को अपने पास बुलाया तो वो भी उठ कर उनके पास जाकर बैठ गया। उसने अपने कांपते बुढ़े हाथों से माहिर के सिर को सहलाते हुए अपनी कमजोर आवाज में काफी दुआएं दी।
