વિરાટગઢ ગામે એક નાનકડું ઘર હતું. ત્યાં રહેતો હતો એક વૃદ્ધ પુરુષ – હરિભાઈ. ઉંમર એના માથાના સફેદ વાળો જેટલી નથી, પણ અનુભવોની ઊંડાઈમાં તે ઘણા યુવાનો કરતા પણ વધુ જીવંત હતો. જીવનનો ઘણો લાંબો રસ્તો તેમણે પાર કર્યો હતો – ગુમાવણાંઓનો, જીતનો, પ્રેમનો, પસ્તાવાનો... અને આશાનો.દરરોજ સવારે હરિભાઈ પોતાના ઘરની ઓરખી બારી ખોલીને બેસી રહેતા. સામે ઝાડ, પંખીઓના કલરવ, પતંગિયાંની પાંખોની હલચાલ અને પછીએ ઊગતા સૂર્યને જોઈને તેઓ હળવી સ્મિત સાથે ચા પીતા. એ માટે આ સવાર કોઈ સામાન્ય સવાર નહોતી, એ જીવવાની એક નવી તક હતી. ભાગ ૧: બાળપણ – નિર્દોષ પળોહરિભાઈના બાળપણની યાદો એમના મનમાં આજેય તાજી
