કેરીનો સ્વાદ ગુણવંતરાયનું ઘર ખુબ નાનું હતું. સુરત જેવા મોટા શહેરમાં હીરામાં ખુબ મહેનત મજુરી કરી બાર પાત્રીસનું ઘર બનાવ્યું. હંસાબેન પણ ભરતકામ કરી ગુણવંતરાયને ટેકો કરતા. દીકરા કિશનને ભણાવીને મોટો કર્યો. પણ પોતાની આર્થીક પરિસ્થિતિ સારી ના હોવાથી બાર ધોરણ ભણાવીને ઉઠાડી લેવો પડ્યો. દીકરો પણ હિરામાં કામે લાગી ગયો. થોડી ઘણી બચત કરી ઘરમાં એક માળ લીધો. સમય જતા દીકરાના લગ્ન થયા. દીકરાની વહુ શીતલ ખુબ સમજુ મળી. સમય જતા તેને ઘરે પણ પારણું બંધાણું. થોડા સમયમાં હંસાબેન અનંતની યાત્રાએ નીકળી ગયા. ગુણવંતરાય એકલા થઇ ગયા. એક વર્ષના આર્ય સાથે ગુણવંતરાય પોતાનો નિવૃતિનો સમય પસાર
