In the story, Hazel is enjoying her time in her study room, fully immersed in music from her new Bluetooth headphones, when her dad calls for her. Despite her mom's attempts to get her attention, she doesn't hear them until her dad calls her phone. When she finally comes downstairs, her parents inform her that she needs to babysit at Mr. Dubey's house for the night because Mr. Dubey's younger sister was in a serious car accident and they need to be at the hospital. Initially, Hazel refuses, upset about the idea of babysitting, especially since she dislikes the elder boy who often plays violent video games. However, her parents emphasize the importance of helping a family in need during an emergency. Despite her reluctance, Hazel is torn between her dislike for babysitting and her sense of responsibility.
