The atmosphere is rainy, but they are adapting. One night, while Nandini is on her phone, the narrator suggests turning off the light so they can sleep. He does so, but later wakes up to find the night lamp on and Nandini asleep beside him. Confused about who turned on the lamp, he decides to let her rest, thinking she must be tired from household chores. The story hints at a sense of unease with the unexplained light, setting the stage for potential suspense or mystery in their new life.
